In the beginning of 2022, Zuid-Holland Bereikbaar was launched: a close partnership between 8 public sector organizations, including both national and regional governments, to better manage the major developments needed on our living environment and infrastructure. We work closely together to keep the province of South Holland in motion.
Joining forces
The South Holland region is a busy province with many people, organizations and businesses. And with another 200,000 homes being built in the coming years, it is becoming more and more crowded. In addition, many roads, bridges and tunnels - that were built in the 60's - are due for major maintenance work. This accumulates to even busier roads, waterways and public transport. If we do not act, the region will increasingly grind to a halt. That is why : Ministerie van Infrastructuur en Waterstaat, Rijkswaterstaat, Provincie Zuid-Holland, gemeente Den Haag, gemeente Rotterdam, Metropoolregio Rotterdam Den Haag (MRDH), Havenbedrijf Rotterdam en ProRail join forces in Zuid-Holland Bereikbaar.
Moving quickly and sustainably
Keeping South Holland accessible is not just a matter of us working together to channel traffic. We will also use the maintenance works and the related disruption to encourage people and businesses to use more sustainable modes of travel and transport. This will not only keep South Holland moving quickly and safely, but also keep it a pleasant environment to work and live in.
Under one roof
Because we collect all information and bring expertise together under one roof, we are able to connect the dots between traffic and mobility management, allowing us to come up withnew solutions. We tailor our approach and services to the region, involving all modes of transport and making the most of the opportunities handed to us by data and digitalisation. We make a difference by:
- Optimising the availability of infrastructure;
- Stimulating sustainable mobility behaviour;
- Aligning programming, traffic and mobility management;
- Creating a tailormade, area-based approach that is central in our work;
- Embracing innovation and data-driven solutions;
- Using the partners’ shared ambitions as an opportunity to foster close regional cooperation;
- Forging ties with neighbouring regions and countries.
